As above I just bought an LG PX990 and thought it would be silly not to get a 3D bluray player but there doesnt seem to be much info on them so im open to suggestions.

ok, the reason i asked is because some 3d players will work with your 5.1 receiver and some wont.. so you can rule out sony, pioneer, philips, etc.

you have one choice a samsung c6900 .. it will work fine with your current receiver.. its the only 3d player to my knowledge that has multi channel analogue outs, which you require to go with your non hdmi enabled receiver...

Not neccessarily, max... Really depends on what connections are available on the OPs receiver/surround system.

Since the OPs receiver/surround system may/may not have multi-channel analogue inputs, but it will more than likely have optical inputs, so could be used with some/most of the Sony,Pioneer, etc, 3D players, the op just won't get HD audio.

Ideally we need to know what make/model the receiver is or what connections it has available....

ah, the samsung is your best choice then.. strictly speaking , as dave said its not your only choice, but i see no reason why you would be better of going for any other player and only getting non hd audio..

shifty:Its a Sony STRDB940 yeah I know old my inputs are analog and optical.Just checked the spec's and it does have multi-channel inputs (5.1) so the Samsung is the best/only choice if you're bothered about HD audio....

The Panasonic BDT300 has dual HDMI out.. one for 1.4a HDMI to your tv.. the other to feed HD audio to HDMI 1.3 amps... it also has 7.1 channel analogue out.. i use one and find it quite good, only slight complaint is that its a little slow to load heave BD+/Java blu-rays e.g Fox titles. .. but otherwise very happy with it

.. i really should read the specs..

i thought because it had the dual hdmi outs that it wouldnt have the analogue outs, still, the samsung is quite a bit cheaper and so should still be the best choice for the op..

Max,

As someone with a relatively high post-count, could you please refrain from making absolute recommendations to other users without checking your facts?

I'd hate someone to buy the wrong equipment based on such misinformation, assuming that because you post so often here it carries some kind of authority.

Your paranoia is really quite staggering, max - no one is playing 'quirky little mindgames'. I was entirely serious about your repeated incorrect and misguided advice.

Again, no-one's saying that, max - I'm just asking that you stick to advising on products of which you have some personal knowledge, not ones about which you may have misread something somewhere else.

well it depends on how flexible a solution the OP wants to go for.. with the Panasonic you have all bases covered.. i'm not familar with the samsung so cant commment on its performance.. but the performance of the Panasonic is very good..
