When will there be new Plasmas or LCDs with blacks as good or better than 9G Kuros?

The kuros are as close to black as you can get without being completely black anyways (meaning even if a tv had a true rating of 'zero' you wouldnt (or very unlikely to) tell any difference

I wouldnt be in the slightest bit bothered about black levels personally

No.

The ex-Kuro engineers now work at Panasonic, and Panasonic also bought the rights to the Kuro tech.

But that doesn't mean Panasonic are using the tech!!!

the word is it has been unofficially confirmed that the ex kuro engineers did have an input into this years v series panas , and that they do have some kuro tech in them ...

id post a link but ...

Apart from the five-star Panasonic that's just won a Supertest, obviously

Anyway, Kuro still brilliant for blacks, but now surpassed in some other areas by current crop of flagship sets (eg Panasonic's VT20 plasma for motion-handling and detail, as covered in our review in new issue).

The best direct LED backlit LCDs are also capable - when correctly set-up - of incredible black depth.

And as for OLED.....
