I need to upgrade my TV and DVD. Should I buy now whilst the sales are on or should I wait in the hope of a better bargain as stores and internet retailers get desperate?

Any thoughts?

Well, all the main 2009 ranges of TV/Blu-ray players etc get announced this week (you'll be able to read about it all here first!), with first new models coming into the shops from around March/April time - shops will need to shift bulk of 2008 stock by then, though we have heard of some popular models already selling out and/or going UP in price as demand outstrips supply.

Add the fact that many of the Japanese companies are putting up their prices because of currency issues and we could see all sorts of price fluctuations in the coming months.

If you have the cash buy now, dealers are operating at a reduced profit if any at the moment. Probably wont get too much more money off due to the low margins, however you should be able to get extras thrown in eg 5Yr warrenty and cables. Try to avoid faceless superstores and go to a local dealer.

Also worth noting is the rapidly diminishing value of the pound against the yen so imports will become MORE expensive to us.

What you thinking of buying?

Just make sure that you buy exactly what you want. A good deal may not turn out to be such a bargain in the long run. Don't be dazzled by the big "discounts", there are always deals to be had. Good luck and happy hunting.

I always find when you have money there are no deals to be had on the things you want. Then when you don't have money everything you ever wanted instantly costs 10p. Paupers law.

I'd buy now though, who knows what the coming months have up their sleeves.ÿ

Also if you have the money in the bank it isnt doing anything for you (the banks passed on THAT interest rate cut!!!), so go out and spend if you have it you will get far more enjoyment.
