... Copland, Densen and others that never get a mention on here?

There are numerous interesting brands that constantly seem to fly under the radar for some reason.

Why do you own a Cyrus and not one of those brands, considering you are in the UK?

In my case it's availability. I only get to see those second hand after they changed few owners and possibly few service shops. Also they are very overpriced even second hand because they are deemed exotica here in Macedonia.

I would like to try Copland but simply can't afford one :-(

As to Densen, I had one at home when I went through my 'compare 10 amplifiers next to each other' phase many years ago. It used to drive my then wife (and myself) nuts.

It had those big golden knobs and looked totally pretentious. Nicely built though but it didn't do it for me at the time. It sounded kind of boring. I then bought one of the first 8000S and sold it after 3 months. In hindsight I should have kept the Densen. All worked out later though as I had a valve amp.

I just mentioned it as those brands are hardly ever mentioned here.

If I were going to drop a load of cash on a CD player, the Copland CDA 825 would be on my shortlist:
