What simple but effective Gems have you used from the forums so far?

2 simple but effective points that i have applied from the forums are--(1-)-hdmi on sky box is stereo only

so connect optical.( 2-) set sky hd box to automatic (hd scale) and let the receiver upscale standard def (onkyo 905) These simple suggestions work well. What about yours? Please try to keep it simple for my benefit.

Number 1 without a doubt (and Mr E has just answered another enquiry based on the same) is learning how to link stereo amp and receiver to work with my front two speakers (in a 5.1 and as my stereo speakers). Good ole pre outs on the receiver!
