What should do the upscaling?

I just bought a Sony BDP S370 Blu-ray player and have it connected to my Denon avr1909 receiver, which then send the signal to my LG 26LH2000 hd ready tv (with 1366x768pixels).

Now I was wondering what device I should let do the dvd-upscaling. And more important, to what resolution? Since the LG converts any signal to it's own 1366x768 resolution, what would be best? 1080p or 720p?

And why doesn't the Sony recognise any harddisc I connect?

This is a "suck it and see" moment...

Seeing how good my S760 is at upscaling, I would guess that the S370 could well be the best, but... The S360 didn't have all of the picture enhancing capabilities of the S760, so the S370 may be the same. If the S370 is good at upscaling, it's actually easier from a purely convenience point of view to set the player to always output 1080P otherwise you have to reset the output format every time you play a DVD...

So as I originally said, I'd guess the S370 given its 3D-ready nature and the increased processing power it has and Sony's track record on upscaling, but I'd suggest giving it a three-way trial to confirm.

As for 1080p vs 720p - again I'd see what your LG prefers, but I'm guessing if you set the output to "Auto" then the LG will negotiate down to 720p.

What format are the hard disks you're connecting (via USB, I suppose). I seem to remember that my S760 will only read HDDs in FAT / FAT32 format
