Ok so I've started to get in to the world of high fidelity a bit more actively over the past year or so and have decided I want to upgrade to a decent system. But unfortunately, as I am a student (a better student with my money than most fortunately) I am on a pretty tight budget when compared with most audiophiles. I think overall the most I am probably willing to pay is £300 for a full system, although I am often swayed by a good deal.
Firstly, I cant decide whether I want floorstanders or stand mounters; I have it in my head that i want floorstanders because, if I'm honest i think they just look much cooler, and they look like they should be better. But when I think about it, stand mounters seem like they are probably much better value for money? Or am I wrong?
Secondly I would just like peoples ideas on best value for money speakers and stereo amplifiers out there? I am not too bothered about Cd players as i rarely play my Cd's, although considering I use my laptop alot I guess a DAC would be useful. I'm a very good bargain hunter when it comes to the internet so feel free to give suggestions a little out of my price range.
Cheers for any help, Michael.
