Hi , my names Scott Bladen and i am a 15 Year school boy and i am looking to purchase a Hi-Fi system that has good sound quality , CD player and I Pod dock that charges it . I am looking to spend roughly £200 and if possible it needs a Subwoofer :)

Welcome to the forum, scott.

The best route given your budget would be all-in-one mini system.

I found this on ebay and there are a number of other makes. However, I have very limited experience with this particular format. I'm sure others could suggest which makes will be the best sounding.

scottbladen:it looks good mate :) do you have anything to say about the fatman i-tube red amplifier and speakers , i confess i am no expert when it comes to sound so could you possibly have a look at the ebay auction for me please ?http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FATMAN-iTube-Red-i-VALVE-AMPLIFIER-iPod-Dock-Speakers-/290476231316?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_PortableAudio_MP3PlayerDocks&hash=item43a1bb8a94

Although not heard it myself, I know Fatman in general has a good reputation for sound quality, including this mag.

Alternatively, there's this Sony with speakers.

Good thing about Richer is you can go in-store and request better speakers within your budget.

Hi Scott,

I would get myself down to Richer sounds and have a chat. It looks to me as if you can get some good separates for a bit over your £200. If you do go the separates route you have some "proper" hi-fi and you can upgrade one bit at a time. That way you can identify the weak points in your set-up and get a kick out of just changing a bit of speaker cable! You won't get a sub woofer in that budget but something like Gale monitors (£80) positioned close to a wall can pack a pretty mighty punch.

I started out along the same lines and my system has slowly worked its way up to something very nice indeed. Bits of my original system are still rocking the summer house. (Always put a bit aside, to make sure you can buy a house with no neighbours :0 )

Hi scott, I think the previous post is a good one,

May be spend your £200 on some core products...

Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 £99 superfi

Pure i-10 iPod dock £32 again superfi

Something like a used denon pma 250 from ebay for around £70

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DENON-PMA-250III-INTEGRATED-AMPLIFIER-/400154568225?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Amplifiers&hash=item5d2b122621

ok so you don't get the cd player but you can soon save enough...

this will give a very good starting sytem..........The denon amp was the first I ever owned and it lasted me years....
