This is what we all - well, I have anyway - been waiting for, a review of the Sony KD-75XD9405. The review reads as well as that of its predecessor (with the big side speakers|) Here it is

http://www.whathifi.com/sony/kd-75xd9405/review .

In the absence of any other 75-inch 4K machines with deep (though not as deep as OLED) blacks and 3D, I'll be buying this Sony in late 2017.

how do you know it will still be available? most models get discontinued around april/may don't they at the latest?

Well yes, I might have to bring that date forward a few months, depending on availability.
How come you are buying all these big TVs? Is it just time for an upgrade of one of them?

By the same author of the Forbes review, here:

Again, not perfect, but it remains my dream machine. It's just a slight shame for me that whenever I do get it, it won't be an increase in size over my existing Sony, so the improvements will be of only resolution and black level.

and colour gamut, and hdr. and quantum dots!

Oops, forgot about those, yeah!

You got to get an OLED 65inch TV, Son of SJ. Check out the new LG OLEDs they are brilliant. A clear setup up from your best TVs.

but I'm not going back down to 65 inches.

size does matter ..... *biggrin*

Abso-bloody-lutely! I've put it up previously, but just to remind folk, this photo of Samsung H7500 series televisions in October 2014 in Ask in London. 75 and 65 inches. The 75-inch one has 33% more screen area. At home within eight seconds I can compare the sizes of the 75-inch Sony in the parlour and the 65-inch Panasonic in the kitchen. A new 65-inch no more, for me.

As above. I've tried my local Richer Sounds and John Lewis looking for a demo set. None to be seen at the moment. Must be a lot of people willing to part with 5k, item unseen. Any ideas where to see one?

Currys and Costco may have ones on demonstration, I don't know. If I had the money, I would buy one now, unseen. I do plan to buy one in about a year's time, and based on reviews and on user reports I'm fairly sure that I'l be happy with it, so I personally - others may take a different view - am not going to greatly go out of my way to see one on demonstration before purchase. In fact as it happens the only one of my televisions that I saw before purchase was the Samsung PS64D8000 plasma, which I gave away in December 2014 after almost three years, the main reason being that I wanted the better black levels of the Panasonic 65VT65.

It's taken me over a month to respond to this, but here goes. I don't know what you mean by "all these big TVs", Gel. I bought the Sony in February and before that, my last previous purchase was the Panasonic in December 2014, fourteen months prior. I'm now speaking of buying the Sony 75XD9405 in maybe mid-2017, a year away. Not exactly a prolific pattern of purchase, and one which hardly justifies "you are buying all these big TVs", especially from you of all people. Remind us again how many televisions YOU have been through in the last five months???
