As the EB ACOUSITICS EB 1's have won a group test and are under £500 does thos mean they take the place of the B & W's for best buy under £500 ?

Not automatically, no. We've Group Tested the EB1s against speakers much closer to them in price terms than the 685s, and it's really a question of how much less than £500 you're looking to spend. We're concerned/obsessed with value for money, and the 685s continue to have a most attractive performance/price ratio.

EB Acoustics offers a 30-day, money-back guarantee, of course, so auditioning in your own home with your own electronics shouldn't be too daunting.

Simon, can you tell me what kit you used when reviewing the EB1.

I keep my eye out for threads for user reviews but they all seem to stop at the point of auditing the speakers, it would seem many people just don't want to go through the hassle of ordering them and sending them back if they are not their preference.

I'm thinking of trying them with my Cyrus 8vs2 and other speakers in that price range either second hand or new.

We used our reference stereo system (Naim CD3 w/555 power supply and Bryston BP26 pre- and 4BSST power-amp), and something a bit more price-comparable (Roksan Kandy K2 integrated and Cyrus CD6se player).
