Hey

When I am on normal sky hd like bbc1 or itv or something you can almost hear like an underwater sound from the rears when people talk(and its not the amp setting)

But when you switch to a proper HD channel or movie its an amazing sound.

Has this got to do with the channel and the way its broadcast?

Thanks

What sort of sound is an "underwater sound"

Almost like a mellow background hollow bubble sound.

Blu blu blu blaa bla bla,.................... Yeh I think thats it

Are your rear channels turned up too high or facing straight at your ears (or both)? I can hear that sound, from my sky hd box, if I listen to my rear speakers when it is in pro logic from a two channel source.

Dont panic it,s normal.

I get the same on 2 channel from our BT Vision box on Dolby Pro Logic.

News or just talking, sounds like theres ghosts behind you...LOL

Try a music channel or a film, you will get proper effects from the rear speakers.

My first thought is you have the rear speakers too close to your ears. Also check the levels as sometimes people have the rear channel levels too high.

Thats what I thought.

Its only on normal channels, but when you go to music and movies its great.

Must be the audio on those channels. nice 1 guys

It's caused by the surround processing - usually Dolby Pro-Logic - trying to extract surround information from the front channels. If there are phase problems or there's some distortion on the broadcast signal, the surround processing can get confused, hence the noises.

The solution is to set the amp to default to stereo when there's no 'proper' surround content, rather than to Pro-Logic.

Will switch when its on those channels.

It almost sound like a computer sound.

What is the best setting for this?
