FrankHarveyHiFi:Granted, the ending is a bit pants,
What, all the aliens catch a cold and die? Well that IS what happens in the book. Other than the time and spatial transplantation it's actually reasonably close to the book, with the red weed and the feeding scenes etc.
and there's a few far fetched bits in it,
What in a film about an alien invasion? Get away...
but other than that I think it's actually a very good film,
I didn't mind it at all but then I'm generally ambivalent to books being changed for the cinema, whereas some people get really upset. I'm a huge fan of Asimov but I wasn't even bothered about the changes to I, Robot, just regarded it as a different interpretation of the source. I don't remember anyone complaining about how different Total Recall was from "We can Remember it for you, Wholesale", or Blade Runner from "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?". Come to think of I can't think of any **** novel that hasn't been changed quite a bit for the screen but you don't hear Philip K's fans ranting and raving about it...
