VOLUME SETTING

What volume levels are people setting their cinema amps to? I find i have to crank my ONKYO 606 up to level 40,which seems way too high.Speakers, cables etc detailed below.
Room is fairly normal dimensions say 5x4 meters.

Is that -40db? If so then that is actually quite low.

No the reports on a scale of 1-75.So at 40 its obviously at approx half way.

I don't understand - presumably it's at the correct volume you want it at 40? If it's loud enough, why would this be too high when it's only just over halfway?

Got mine set at 43 and it works a treat.

If half way is OK.Then that`s fine,it just seemed to be a realtively high setting on the sacle of 1-75,that`s all.If others are finding the same levels required,then would imply that everything is O.K.

I think you'll find the volume isn't linear. I have my volume set to plain old 0 - 100, none of that -db nonsense.

There's very little difference between 10 & 30, but 30 to 40 is a bigger step up, 40 to 50 more so again and 50 to 60 encompasses most of my viewing, 60 being really quite loud!

I had recently also asking about why is that my Onk 506 need to be set at volume 40 and above to enjoy the sound? Also feel that is quite high. Are you guys saying that is normal right.

have my 606 at about 40 for general viewing but crank it up for action stuff
