VESA Mounts

Are these in the same position for all TVs please? In other words if I buy a larger set, can I assume that the increases in height and width will be the same amount top and bottom etc?

They're often different.

I wanted to swap our old Panasonic plasma which is screwed to the back panel of an entertainment center (sic) but it meant making extra holes in the wood panel, so I wasn't allowed to. Truth be told, in 20 years that panel could end up looking like a pegboard...

No they arnt unfortunately. Many modern led lit LCD TVs have the backlight strip in the centre rather than too or bottom. This gives the illusion of a skinny tv but the bottom section is pretty thick. This has the added side effect of forcing the vesa mount much lower on the set. I had to fabricate some bits to lower the tv on my fixed height stand.

my previous samsung 50" plasma was 400x400

my new sony 65" led is 300x300

my bracket fitted both, but when mounting the sony, i had to adjust where i mounted it, as the fittings were at the bottom of the tv, rather than in the middle.

brackets can be bought very cheapily.

mine was 15 quid (ish) around 4 years ago.

there are plenty on amazon

Thanks for all the replies. My reason for asking is that I only have 4" or so clearance between the bottom of my current smaller TV and the top of my centre speaker. Am in the process of visits to PC World measuring the 3 on my shortlist!
