Using UK turntable in the US

Hi all. I'm looking for advice about using a Project Debut II I bought in the UK over in the US. I am thinking of keeping it as it has sentimental value. However, if I'd have to buy an expensive, large, hot and noisy converter then I won't bother. Essentially, I'd like to know if I can plug the power adaptor it came with into a standard plug adaptor without damaging the turntable or the sound it makes? The rest of the system well be new stuff I buy in the US. Many thanks.

Check your adapter as it might be switchable. If not buy another - the specs are in your manual and on the project website. Cheaper than buying a converter.

I'm sure US distributor Sumiko will be able to supply you with a Stateside-spec power supply for not very much money.

All you need change is the power supply and motor pulley. You can either buy them from us before you leave or get them when you arrive from Sumiko.

Thanks all, that's all very helpful. Sounds like it shouldn't be a problem (although Sumiko's page doesn't seem to be working right now). Henley: if you wouldn't mind expanding on the motor pulley issue - why is it that this will need changing also? Thanks again.

Just checked and Sumiko site working fine. I assume the pulley change is due to the different frequency at which US AC mains is switched - 50Hz here, 60Hz there -, which will affect motor speed and thus require slight different 'gearing' via a change of pulley size.

Thanks Andrew. Probably an issue with my browser, I'll get on their site somehow and when I do I'll look into getting both those items. Good forum this.
