USB Storage to Blu-ray player

I can connect a USB stick to my Blu-ray player via the USB port. I was wondering if I can connect a USB hard drive to it. I assume the answer is yes but I was wondering what’s the maximum size I can connect to it? E.g. can I connect a 500GB USB hard drive up to my Blu-ray player

I think it depends on the player, on the Panys you can, but it has to be formatted to fat 32 file system. I tried it on my Pio & it doesnt work for play back of divx or avi files it will only accept it on Disc

My Sony Bdp S370 only wants usb deviced formatted with FAT32 filesystem, and only with one partition. My LG tv however takes everything.

Presumably it doesnt tell you in the manual for your player for which you have given no model name or number
