If you do decide to purchase it, you could always offer a little less like £1800 or £1900 and see what they say.

Also you could say if I get home and it's too big, could I still return it? That way if you don't like it when you get home you have a get out clause.

Good luck, it's a gorgous tv.

i could have bought the same tv for e1500 a few weeks ago , i tried to get the money but to no avail , i cant see any reason not to buy it , its still the best tv in the world , 6 months of use should have done it no harm , you could check for screen burn , but its unlikely to have it , buy it ...

I don't know if you can still get plasma burn like when the picture changes you see a mark left on the screen, you could look for things like that, I would also check to see if they are any marks on the outside of it, remember with plasma you have to keep them upright, Sometimes the only real way of testing a screen is at home, try to check none of the colours are faded, its hard in a shop because of bad feeds and stuff know.

Just did a quick search and some people are saying that plasma last between 50,000 - 65,000 hours of use, don't know if that is right or not?

That sounds about right. Screen burn is pretty hard to do on the newer plasma screens, unless its had a static image on it day in, day out - which I doubt - it's probably been cycling through one of those high-def sampler DVD / Blu Rays. If the shop left it in the default setting it came out of the box with (you might want to check what picture mode and contrast set to - guessing optimum or pure and about 40), then according to Pioneer then that's fine (I have an email somewhere). Basically, the 9th gen screen doesn't need to be run in massively gently - the only thing to avoid is extreme contrast (like games / PC output) and static images in first couple of hundred hours. Assuming the shop has been open, say, 12 hours a day, seven days a week for 6 months, then the screen has been run for 12x7x26 weeks = 2184 hours, probably nearer 2,000 hours - so still many, many hours left in it. Should be nicely run in, ready for ISF calibration

Just look at physical state of screen and try to make sure that you can return in first 14 days at their expense if there is an issue.

Ah, the fine hurdle - approval of OH. Many a great purchase has stumbled here

Have you taken here to a demo of the Kuro screen, with her favourite film and highlighted how much hare friends will enjoy coming round to film nights (A small sacrifice for a Kuro - MOH is having two film nights in the next few weeks, like I said, a small sacrifice... I also sold the idea on how much the kids would like it...*)

* They do - all the kids like it

I'd be snapping their bleeping hands off amazing price! If it's only been used for 6 months, even constant use is less than 5000 hours which is not a lot in the big scheme of things. Tell the missis you're thinking of getting the panasonic 65 inch later this year if you don't get this

Go and buy it if you can. I've had mine the best part of a year - I paid £3,456 for it with a stand, speakers and 5yr warranty and haven't regretted it for a second. £2,000? That's a steal and you're not likely to find many more out there.

If anything, the set seems even better than when I first bought it, and is a constant pleasure to view.

I second jabirrugpa. I got the krp-600a. Honestly cant remember the cost now but it will have been about £3500. £2k is a very good price.

Be warned though they are very big tellies. Ours had to go in front of the lounge window and it blocks most of the light out.

They do look very impressive. Virtually everyone who walks into our room is amazed by it.

Even if someone brings out a better telly in the near future, this is still going to be one of the best sets on the market for quite a while yet.

Buy it while you still can. It will go very soon and you very rarely see them for 2nd hand sale.

Please forgive me changing the subject of this post, Barnsleydave, but I see you have an LX-08. Do you have any problems? Mine keeps freezing on certain BluRay and DVDs.

No. I've never really had any problems with it. I did get a (dvd - r) disc stuck in it once when it was about a week old. But that was a one-off. I got it in June 2009 and I have given it 2 firmware updates. That may be your problem. Especially if it only happens on certain discs. At least if you have the latest firmware upgrade and it still happens you know that, thats not the problem.

Thanks Barnsleydave for reminding me: I see that there is a new upgrade v1.39 which I don't have - I'm only up to v1.37. I'm downloading right now.

By the way, garynic, did you buy that Kuro?
