gel:Just did a quick search and some people are saying that plasma last between 50,000 - 65,000 hours of use, don't know if that is right or not?
That sounds about right. Screen burn is pretty hard to do on the newer plasma screens, unless its had a static image on it day in, day out - which I doubt - it's probably been cycling through one of those high-def sampler DVD / Blu Rays. If the shop left it in the default setting it came out of the box with (you might want to check what picture mode and contrast set to - guessing optimum or pure and about 40), then according to Pioneer then that's fine (I have an email somewhere). Basically, the 9th gen screen doesn't need to be run in massively gently - the only thing to avoid is extreme contrast (like games / PC output) and static images in first couple of hundred hours. Assuming the shop has been open, say, 12 hours a day, seven days a week for 6 months, then the screen has been run for 12x7x26 weeks = 2184 hours, probably nearer 2,000 hours - so still many, many hours left in it. Should be nicely run in, ready for ISF calibration
Just look at physical state of screen and try to make sure that you can return in first 14 days at
their expense if there is an issue.
