Actually don't

Every time I get a new system I turn up the wick - with something like 'George Thoroughgood & the Destroyers' - to a level a bit louder than I would ever normally play it, open the living room windows too. and knock on the neighbour's door and ask if they can hear it and if bothers them. So far - in 25 years - they have never had a complaint. Also I would never play anything at all loud after 9pm.

Luckily we share a very thick party wall with cavity (Edwardian houses). Not like some of these modern houses where you can hear the neighbour's conversations through the walls!
