Upgrading system

I am thinking about upgrading my current stereo setup to 5.1. I have a Marantz pm6003 amp and 2x Focal Chorus 806v.

I want an significant improvement in sound, of course. Im going to use this many different genres of music and watching movies.

I wonder if you can get a set of speakers that delivers enough bass by themself so you dont need to get a subwoofer? Im just thinking of saving space here. And well...i haven't been in this world of hifi for very long, so very little knowledge!

Should i keep my Focal speakers and build up from there? Or should i sell them and look for a complete 5.1 speaker package?

Trade up the amp, keep the speakers. The more power and current you have, the better it will control the speakers. A quick scan over Ebay will deliver you some good examples for very reasonable money and with a return option if you don't like them.
