Upgrading from Mackie HR624mk2 (studio monitors) to KEF R100/R300 - is it worth it?

I'm currently rocking a pair of Mackie HR624mk2's. They are mainly for listening to music. They are on a TV stand, and could be a good 10 cm's higher, but no can do. They are also positioned close to wall, but DSPeaker Anti-Mode 2.0 Dual Core is there to help with the exaggarated bass. I'm planning on getting a KEF R400b to deal with sub bass.

My question is that would replacing those active speakers with KEF R300's or even R100's (accompanied with a decent amp) make any sense? Especially considering that I'm listening in average size room - not a studio?

I doubt the Kefs + amp would be an upgrade.

For that amount of money, try upgrading to Event Opals (large active studiomonitor, no sub needed) or a pair of Neumann KH310A.

These speakers will destroy the Kef + sub and you won't have the hassle of trying to integrate your sub.

edit: also look at PSI Audio A21-M, Focal twin

Ive got irdac + a19 + r300. This combination is very great!

The stage is large, open, airy and precise. This magical combination is a dynamic set of balls and detail, also at a lower volume.

Bass control is very great it's nice rounded deep and wide. Midrange is full, highs are not brigth but perfectly tight.

Thanks! I'd gladly go with any of your suggestions, but here's where looks and size come to play; currently speakers can't be any bigger than my Mackies. Also they should preferably be white. (Yes, really :grin: ). That's why I'm going with the sub. You couldn't possibly know, but would a pair of Amphion Argon 1's or 3's be considered an update (other than lookwise?)
