Hi there

I've been slowly building my stereo / surround system for the past few years. I have an Onkyo SR605, Marantz cd6002, Denon DVD-1940 dvd, Dali Icon 6 surround set-up.

I know that the speakers are a league above the rest of the kit, so I've now got some cash to upgrade. Essentially, I'm more than happy with the surround sound from the Onkyo, but feel that I can improve the cd (stereo) part of the system. My starting point is with the amp, ensuring that I can switch between stereo & surround sound for my Dali speakers, so I see my options as..........

[*]buy a reciever such as the Sony STR-DA5400ES, or equivelant to get improved stereo output.
[*]buy a lesser reciever such as a Yamaha RX-V1900, and buy a Roksan Kandy K2 amp and connect to the Yamaha to utilise the Dali Icon 6's for CD playback.

Can you let me know you're thoughts? I have about 1,500 GBP to spend but don't need to if I can get away with it, as I can then upgrade my CD player too!!!

Cheers

Paul

I'd go for seperate stereo and surround amps. I tried a number of combinations but was not happy with stereo performance untill I went down this path.
