Hello All ,

Right now i've got a stereo setup made from:

Source: .flac files on PC and XonarD2 audio card

Amp: Nad C326BEE

Speakers: Magnat Supreme 1000

After listening to this setup for about 2 years i feel the need for more hi-fi-ness 😀

What would you change in order to achieve DOUBLE the sound quality that i have now , is it necessary to buy external DAC / change amp too ?

Or maybe just buy Dac and new Speakers?

I'd rather not talk about buget because when i upgrade i like to usually double the quality of what i had before. So i'm not looking for double the power , but the quality of sound 🙂 Of course i could buy 5000$ speakers and 6000$ Dac , but i feel that's more than double of the quality that i have now 🙂

Quality is quite hard to define, but in terms of hifi, should include transaprency and accuracy (lack of distortion and tonal) as a minimum.

Active speakers in general go a long way to acheiving this. Yes it is a generalisation, but pound for pound actives are generally better vs an integrated amp and passive speaker setup.

Horse for course and not everyone likes the same things in life, but there is no such thing as doubling your budget for double the SQ, it simply doesn't work that way.

Best advice would be to start with what you can afford and have a look/listen to a variety of systems at and up to that budget.
