I currently use an Onkyo CR-715DAB with Q Acoustics 1030i speakers for a combination of PC gaming, listening to music and TV. I've had the setup for nearly five years and although there's nothing wrong with the Onkyo, I'm tempted to buy something better up to around £400.
The soon-to-be-released Marantz CR 510 has caught my eye but therein lies a question: will there be sufficient improvement in the quality of sound to warrant the purchase?
Admittedly I do want something which isn't as tall as the Onkyo so that I can re-arrange the layout of some things and that's certainly a part of my decision but if the audio isn't going to be any better - or is somehow going to be worse - there's little point in me buying that particular receiver, at least. Given that the CR 510 isn't even out yet, how does the Onkyo compare with, say, the Marantz CR 603 for example? Are there any alternatives that I perhaps haven't considered?
Any guidance would be appreciated!
