Hello people,

Current setup:

NAD 542 cdplayer

Denon PMA2000AE reciever

B&W Cdm7SE Speakers

no name kabels... already tried the QED xt but wasnot the improvement I was looking for.

Most denon cd players are a little to smooth for my taste.

Before the NAD cd I had a denon dcd755ar cd player and switching it for the NAD was quite an improvement(more detail)

But the NAD focuses a bit to much on the high notes, so I am looking for a cdplayer that has both the detail of the NAD and the rich sounds of Denon...

Which upgrade will improve my sound the most?

Thanks

IMO the let down in your system is the Denon, sorry to say...

The NAD CDP is good but its not a match for the Denon amp and the B&W speakers are superb but the Denon doesnt have the right sound for them; as you mentioned, too smooth and a bit laid back i'd also say.

If you can only upgrade the CDP i'd say have a look for an Arcam CD92 or a Rega Apollo.

With reards to speaker cable have a nosey at Chord Carnival Silverscreen or QED XT
