I've got two channel 4s since the 7th April retune. I can't see that I've lost any other channels - just gained another c4. Just interested as to why this might be.

Ah, maybe that's the reason. We have had problems with getting BBC Wales when we should have BBC West Country. So, why would the same channel register twice but on different channel numbers (004 and 008), then?

Well you can't have two channels on the same number can you? If they're regional variations they'll be on different frequencies, so as far as the TV is concerned they are different channels.

Oh, right. So, if I wait for some ads to come on and then flick twix the two channels, I may see different ads, then. This would confirm the situation, wouldn't it (?). I'll give it a go later.

I didn't realise there were regional variations with channel 4.

Indeed there are.

We have two Channel Fours on the Sky EPG here in Northern Ireland. The NI version is on 104 and the English version on 994. As far as I can tell, there's absolutely no difference apart from some of the ads. The NI version carries local firms for example. We've also two Channel Four + 1s as well, the NI. One on 135, and the English one on 995.

Davey is possibly experiencing lift conditions. Is the extra Channel Four Freeview EPG number in the 800's ?

No, the channel numbers on the epg are 004 and 008.

Hi daveyjay, wondered if you might be back after the second retune last week. Looks like you successfully avoided the BBC1 & 2 Wales this time. The Freeview Channel line-up shows CH4 (wales) or TeleG (scotland) appearing at no.8 on the EPG list.

I had to redo the same 18 freeview retunes last week with varying degrees of success. My preferred method of having the aerial disconnected for the first half of the tuning cycle (to avoid the welsh broadcast from Wenvoe) still works but is not so easy now. On March 31st the freeview channels from Wenvoe all moved, and went up to higher frequencies. The Mendip freeview shift on April 7th moved them all down in frequency. means there is not much gap between them now. In fact its not all finished yet in Mendip region. As a temporary measure one of the broadcasts is on Ch62. Next autumn it is due to shift to Ch48. This is a brilliant piece of planning as there will then be an overlap with Wenvoe.

Some sets I had to go to 'manual retune'. If you have to do this then the channels you need to tune to are 54,56,61 and 62.

8119504,

Sorry, bit of an overdue response.

I haven't tried the second retune on my sister's Humax, yet, which the box with the BBC Wales problem.
