Ive got a panasonic 37lzd70 and it needs to be 4 to 5 metres long if that makes any difference.

Im not very good with this sort of stuff, the laptop is a sony pcg-7d1m if that helps.

I see the Panasonic has a PC input so you just need a VGA cable, available for a fiver from ebuyer. Don't think you'll find one that is any better quality than generic though.

If you want to improve video performance, you could try a USB to DVI card that makes it HDMI compatible, but they're expensive and won't give you that much of an improvement, I'd say. You may find though that the vaio won't output native 1080, so it'll be upscaled - give it a go with the VGA cable first and see if you're happy with it.
