TV Speakers Advice Please

I have a Yamaha DSP-AX763 Amp and Sony KDL 37V4500 HD TV (Soon to be replaced by the 40Z5500). I am feeding my DVD player (soon to be replaced by Sony BDP-S373 Blu-Ray) via HDMI to the amp and HDMI out to my TV. I am not getting any sound from my TV’s speakers, only from the amp to my KEF’s. Any advice would be appreciated.

What appears to be the problem? The amp is extracting the audio and sending it to the KEF speakers, as it's supposed to. It will only pass the video through to the TV.

Are you wanting to watch DVD using the TV speakers and not the amp by any chance?

Yes, at times we would like to hear just the tv speakers. (obviously the amp would need to be on)

Is this possible?

It depends on the Amp and whether it can pass through audio when in standby (if the amp is on it'll send the sound to the KEFs), some can some can't, have a look at the manual to find out.
