When you get a new tv LCD or plasma, do they have a 'running in' time. What i mean is does the picture get better after a certain amount of hours being on. I ask this because i got a new tv and the 1st 2 days i thought the SD picture was rubbish. Then after a while i was just sitting and watching and suddenly thought...wow this picture is really good. I now think my SD picture is good quality. I know someone might say its just because i got used to it....but its not that. I bought a new mains cable andd with it they stated the cable took around 100 hours to run in. So just wandered if tvs do the same. And if this is the case.....do WhatHIFI leave the tvs on for 48hrs before doing a review?

I know that the experts say to give a plasma at least 200 hours running in time before you calibrate them properly,so there must be a good theory behind the screen getting better to watch,or maybe settling down???.Could i ask you about your mains cable,is it a conditioner and could this be why your picture looks better, have posted a thread today asking this question about mains conditioners and wether they are worth the money

i bought the tacima mains extension and the award winning clearer audio mains cable. You can see them in whathifi best buy accessories. I havent actually studied the picture with them on and off. I just bought to try and get the best picture possible as they arent too expensive. Im sure they must work tho. Especially the tacima.
