Can anyone help? I feel its time to change my TV, Panasonic TH37PX60, which is a few years old now. Its not 1080p doesn't do 24p and is only 50 hertz refresh rate. I am looking at around £550 and my attention was drawn to the Sony KDL40EX403U from Tesco. We have £200+ vouchers making it a very economical purchase helping justify the change. My question is, although it "appears" to be a much better picture on these budget TV's than my current one will I see a significant improvement to justify any outlay?

well you are moving form one of the best sets of its time to a budget set of today! ...but yes it will have better colours and you will enjoy the extra inches no doubt

Thanks for the reply John, In your opinion do you think I will see a suitable improvement over my current TV with the 24p (from Blueray) and Full HD (SKY HD)? I wasn't sure the Sony 40EX403 for example for £500 wouldn't be outright better. Anyone else got any experience they can share?

Not sure on those points you raise. As an owner of an PX70 and various LCD's would be pretty sure the Sony will be brighter and more colourful on all formats - so you will see a better picture on all. If your looking to be sure you have a 'great set' go for the EX 503 which has a definitively great review against even the best sets out there and you can rest happy knowing you are seeing pretty much as good as it gets outside of big money

Thank you again and sorry for the slow reply. I agree that the reviews are very good for the Sony 503 but its finding a deal for it now.
