Hi everyone,

I am new into hi-fi world, I have a Marantz mcr 510 and a pair of Dali Zensors 3 for more than one year now and I'm very satisfied with them. I'm reading a lot about hi-fi world and my interest is growing everyday.

I would like to make the next step and get some separates in the future, the marantz PM 6005 and a vinyl tt but for the moment my interest is in a pair of dynaudio dm 2/7, raised by the owners tesimonials and whf and other reviews and comparisions with the Zensors. So I am watching a good deal of them for some time and one dealer have them on sale, one last pair from display so I went to hear them, they sounded great.

But the guy from the shop propossed me a better? deal, he showed me the Triangle ( never heard of the brand, even I live in France for some time now ) Comete 30th anniversary edition and when I started to listen them, I was blown away: very clear sound ( compared to what I heared until now ), some say bright ( from the reviews I've read so far ) but I think I like this brightness, and spatiality ( I can describe this as if I close my eyes and I don't know where they are in the room, I can't tell where the sound is comeing from ), compared to the dynaudios which sounded a little stuffy, dark after triangle audition. I came home and searched for the brand to see if I heared good what I've heard, and found that except from this exact model, almost all their speakers got five star reviews from whf and other specialists, mainly from France. I know there aren't many triangle comete 30th anniversary owners out there, from what I understand there were made only 500 of them, but any fair advice or suggestion is very wellcomed as I can't really deceide between the two. The price difference is around 100 - 150 eurod ( around 75 - 110 pounds ).

In what key should I translate the 4 star review from whf? Are this 4 stars compared to the class this speakers belong to ( I believe it's a different one of the dynaudios, higher price, bigger dimensions? ) and therefore at least as good as the 5 stars of dynaudios or simply, even if they are bigger and pricier, they aren't better than the dynaudios?

I told the guy I only have a small marantz 510 but he told me they are very easy to drive. Not to mention that they look great, too, even if this isn't an important aspect.

Thank you in advance for your opinions and I hope I wasn't too dizzy!

SteveR750 is quite correct, it really is that simple. Read reviews by all means but take that star-rating stuff with a pinch of salt as they are, after all, nearly only one persons opinion of a piece of equipment. In the majority of cases you have no idea what other equipment they used in the reviewing process or what kind of room it was done in. Items such as speakers are very much a personal thing and they have to fit into your listening room and sound compatible with your equipment.

If you like the sound of the Triangles (and I for one do) then go and buy them, they do make some very nice speakers indeed and at a very good price all things considered.
