hey, any suggestions on a decent pair of travel headphones. I'm looking for full size headphones, and they are going to be used with an ipod, id like something that wont sound tooo terrible in contrast to my akg k601s

The Goldring NS1000, but they need an amp and the FiiO E5 with a LOD cable to connect to an ipod. I have AKG K702s and I like the sound of this setup. It lacks the AKGs soundstage and ultimate detail, but otherwise it is a very nice neutral system.

The Goldrings are on Play.com at £50, the FiiO on Amazon at £20 and the LOD cable is on ebay for £6

thanks for your response i shall certainly consider these, btw the LOD cable, is it absolutely necessary or is it just for increased quality?

For £6 it is an necessity as £6 to greatly increase the sound quality is worth it IMHO! However, I have been reminded of an issue to with the Goldrings in that they leak sound, so other commuters may be able to hear your music, depending on what you are travelling in.

yes i agree £6 pund for increased sound quality is nothing so i will certainly get that

and i had also heard about the sound leakage (from play.com reviews) but tbh i dont think itl be a problem as these will be for planes mainly and there so noisy i cant imagine anyone really hearing my headphones.

They come with an adaptor for use on planes, I presume it is to connect to the control panel or pilot or something. (I don't fly).

oh rite yer iv had one of them with some headphones before

Check out Grado SR60 'phones. Superb quality and fold flat for easy packing.

Bob.
