First go at this... I am about to take the quantum leap from CRT to LCD.

I gather the highly praised XF is about to be superseded by the 100Hz / "24 FPS" 5:5 ZF. Given that I do not have or intend to get BluRay or Sky HD, would there be any point getting the latter? Obviously I would like my existing DVD collection / Freeview to look as good as possible. At current prices the 100Hz and an off switch will set me back about an extra £350 but the price will tumble in due course - I could easily wait 4 months as the CRT is still doing its job. And I am not likely to change what I buy now for a good 5 years or so (apologies if that idea offends some readers!).

And for my own tastes the Toshiba picture frame looks much more sexy than anything else out there (where I would otherwise be looking at a 37" to keep the size of the black box in the corner down). That said I see that other manufacturers are going "picture frame" too, so might I be better to wait and look beyond Toshiba... It seems that new TVs are coming (and going) at a quite a pace.

I only read one bad comment relating to the XF, relating to light seepage around the frame. I have not seen any reviews of the ZF, yet.

Given my criteria, is the ZF worth the extra? Or should I wait? Or consider X, Y or Z instead?

Hi - I am considering these two models too. What conclusion did you come to?
