A few weeks ( or maybe months?) back I saw a feature in a Sunday paper mag about gadgets. It said a new Toshiba dvd player was coming that would revolutionise your old dvd collection.
The article suggested the £150 player would transform an old dvd, upscaling it with a magic that would make it as good as a blu ray.

Now, weeks later, I have no idea what the player was, and I am wondering if it was hype?! I assumed it would arrive with a bang!

So, what was the product? Can it achieve this? I have a stack of dvd's (different regions). I play them through the PS3 (as I do blu rays).
Can I really buy a dvd player that would blow this set up out of the water?

Oh, and if so can it handle multi regions?

Having read the guff about the upscaling capabilities, this is the one I saw.

If it upscales that well (of course it wont be as good as blu ray, why do people complain it isn't!) why hasn't it fared better in the awards?
Was it hype, and do the 2008 award winners give a better picture using dvd's (eg the similarly priced Onkyo).

Are the final results THAT much better than my PS3 will do? I'm stuck for more space in my cabinet so some advice is appreciated, as I don't want an extra box for my dvd collection unless it really pulls its weight.
