Finally manged to build a nice dedicated cinema room, and after making do with a sony davs880 all in one system for many years now, i've decided to get out the old credit card and buy my dream (as far as my credit card will allow) set up, already ordered a Onkyo 875 as a start.

Ever since i was a kid, i always wanted some B&W speakers, so ventured into sevenoaks and asked for a demo, the sales assistant got them out and also recommended some MA RS6's so listened to them both and found the B&W's a little on the bass heavy side where as the MA's seemed a little bit more in control. Now here comes my question and please forgive my ignorance, but i am stretching myself a bit finacically as it is and just want to make sure i get it right first time. Now as i've said, i've always wanted B&W's (childish i know) and was a little concerned about the bass that i heard, but i should point out that i only heard them linked up to a stereo amp as he didn't have the others speakers in at the time, was wondering that as i would be mainly using them for films, would the heavy bass really notice when you are using the onkyo

the two set ups i was considering to get 7.1 were:

B&W 684's

HTM62

and the MT30 Package

or

MA RS6

RCLCR

RSW-12

and 4no R90's

so which set up above would anyone recommend or does anybody have any other recommedations.

thanks for your time, will

I have the the RS6s and RSLCR and 2 R90s (5.1 and not 7.1) - my sub is a Jamo and not as good as the MA one you mention. It sounds amazing!! I seriously doubt you can beat it for the money. And also, Sevenoaks will do you a deal - just barter away. Also, my brother in law has the MT30 from B&W and it really can't live with mine - more expensive traditional vs cheaper style = no contest. I haven't listened to the 684s though - although Sevenoaks staff told me that they much preferred the RS6 package (and it was in the sale and the B&W stuff wasn't).

Thanks mate, appreciate it, i'm gonna go back this saturday and listen to both of the setups and hopefully make a decision then, but it looks like i might go for the MA's as they seem to be rated the highest on here, shame really as i had my heart set on having some B&W's (silly i know)

I really love my B&W setup - 685s / HTM62 / M1 rears (5.1, not 7.1). In the end, I think it depends what you're after and which you prefer! Absolutely though, listen to both - it's the only way to find out.

I have a 875/RS8 av setup and my ears have heard nothing to match it £ for £. Listen to both, but make sure that the RS6's have been well run in as the sound really comes together after a good 20 hours of use.
I can recommend www.wilkinsons.tv/ in Nelson who did me a great deal that no one else could get near to after twisting their arm last month!
