Firstly unreserved apologies for rubbish title! Having read in WHF mag that my Monitor Audio RX1s will benefit from 2 sets of wires each (also recommended by MA themselves), I've given it a try. 2 sets of standard QED 79 strand into Marantz PM66 KI Sig. Fired up and first impressions are positive. Literally had only 5 mins but am sure certain aspects of sound have improved e.g. better instrument separation and what I perceive as quicker or more pronounced decay and start of notes. Am quite surprised initially, but will post again when had chance to listen for longer (and louder). Thanks for reading folks.

I've recently bi-wired some Monitor Audio's and, although I'm sceptical about bi-wiring and cables in general, there was an audible difference. I didn't expect there to be, but there was. The difference was as you describe with an increased clarity and presence. These were cheap BR2's so I'm sure yours will sound much better. I think Monitor Audio speakers really do benefit from bi-wiring and that is somthing I never ever thought I would say. In fact I'm horrified it's in print!

Psychoacoustics would suggest that being human you made an action and created expectation for a reaction in your mind. Your hearing became more acute, focused and you indeed heard more details, presence etc. Those "extra details' were always there, its just that you haven't perked your ears that much.

Sometimes this happens and sometimes it doesn't. Even the biggest skeptics can fool themselves.

After being inactive on this forum for a few years, it's nice to know that when I came back, certain things just haven't changed like the snake oil, pseudo science and placebo effect talk by naysayers. Only that the characters have changed... years back was this guy called Oldphrt and now I guess we have TrevC, Covenanter, et al
