Slowly rearranged my main system to keep it out of reach of my son who is now 14 months.

Which means I mostly listen to music with headphones or some cheap active speakers set up in the bedroom.

I mostly find it reassuring when my wife tells me that when she takes him to the community centre, etc. play he is the only kid who seems just as interested in in playing with the PA system/audio systems as he is with the toys available.

This year I bought:

An Marantz 7007 Blu-ray player but sent it back.

Bought a Pioneer Bdp-lx55 Blu-ray player but return it because it didn't work well.

Bought a Cambridge Audio player but sent it back, it was faulty.

Got a Panasonic 50VT65 TV.

Bought a Sony camera but sent it back - too small.

Bought an Oppo 103 player, and kept it for 4 months and then sold it.

Bought an iPad Air.

Bought a digital subscription of WHF.

You've forgotten about the two cameras, two wallets, hair clippers, and leather jacket (like The Fonz)

I've missed key chapters in this narrative. Why did you sell the 103, Gel? (That's probably an inappropriate question to ask on what's ostensibly a hi-fi thread.)

I live near the Open University, and the house is quite big.

I was spending lots on Xmas presents and Black Friday, and then I decided I wanted an iPhone 5S too, so I had to sell some stuff. I sold the Oppo 103 for £380 on AV Forums the first day I put it for sale. Sold my iPad 2 to a family member and sold my camera too. I might need to sell my iPhone 4S too.

I just decided my Pioneer Blu-ray player wasn't doing anything, so the Oppo had to go.

OK, so you sold it for financial reasons rather than concerns about performance.

Yep, for sure, nothing wrong with the Oppo at all. It is a great player but still only on par with my Pioneer which I would only get about £100 for.

Spent around £700 on music, between three of us (see the separate thread on this). Meaning no expenditure on Hifi kit and that since buying my Cyrus 8 DAC to go with my Sonos stuff... I am content. Next year though who knows what could happen!!!

...ran out of space on my Sony MP3 player and upgraded it for the 64GB version of the same model. My 4000 track music collection now fits on there easily with plenty of space to spare.

Bought a Sonos Play:1, listened to it. Might get another one while the free bridge offer is still on, depends how much I spend on Christmas. That constitutes a high-spending year for me!
