I care actually. Philips invented the cassette tape, invented video recorders and invented CDs. Take those away and where would the music and hi-fi industry be.

Still love my Philips. Great blacks, contrast, motion for an LCD. Sound is great for a flatscreen. Will upgrade to LED eventually but as an LCD i wouldn't swap it.

I've owned several Philips TV's over the years and they've all been good. The only time I had to have a set repaired, Philips could not have been more helpful, friendly and efficient.
Compare that with Panasonic who must have the worst customer service of any manufacturer. They might make good products but after my experience I wouldn't touch Panasonic with a barge pole! Oh - and I just love Ambilight!

It's a shame to lose them as a European competitor to the Japanese, but market forces and all that. They did generate some good tech, but failed to market it properly - V2000 anyone ?

Well I have a Philips 42PFL6709T being delivered on Monday, my fingers are crossed philips haven't gone as bad as some people suggest

I would have agreed but... we couldn't get on with our Panasonic 50" GT50 plasma so it went back to JL.

They look very interesting although the normal top of the range 9 series seems to have been replaced by the 8. Quite a long wait to actually see them / find out how much I need to save up. Or dive straight into the new Sony (W900A) / Samsung (F8000) range out soon.... decisions, decisions!!!
