Hi,

I'm really keen on the Tannoy Revolution Signature DC4T or DC6T.

I've read rave reviews for the DC6T but I'm afraid it will be too big for my space - both physically and in terms of space (the speakers can be spaced only up to a maximum of 160cm apart)

Would I be experiencing a very much lower sound quality if I go for the DC4T?

My dealer doesn't have the DC6T for testing because they are out of stock.

would really appreciate your comments and thoughts.

The DC4T has a similar sound to the DC6T albeit not as full due to the cabinet/driver size. There is still all the detail and insight in the 4 but the 6 resolves it just that little bit better. Both are cracking speakers and if you dont have the space for the 6 then nothing is lost.

thanks! would you pair it with a Denon 2310? I'm for a more mellow sound, full and well defined

You should have no issues with the Tannoy and the Denon as the speakers work well across most electronics. It is not a combination I know first hand as we do not currently stock Denon.

thanks Nick.just one more - is a sub necessary at all with the DC4T or DC6T?

I suspect I'm going to have a problem finding anymore wall space on that 2.1m wall for a sub AND a 50" tv....so I'm wondering if I could get away without it!!

You wont need a sub but you might like the sound of one if you can get it into your system. I would try without to begin with and then see if you can borrow one for a weekend.

actually Nick, I AM curious - do you think I could place DC6Ts along my 2.1m wall and not have the sound sound very muddled when listening from a distance of 5m?

my total space is 3.2 x 5m - it's just that 1.1 x 5m of it is walkway so i can't place any speakers there

You should get away with it. The tannoys are front ported and with a bit of space either side you will not get a fussy sound. If you have no problems with the size of the speaker I would do it. The room is big enough to merit them.

what does front ported mean? and how much space does it need either side?

other than sound, the only other real consideration I have is my future 50" tv - but the sound's more important to me at the moment!!

The tannoys have an exit hole for the air within the cabinet ( a port ) and this is on the front of the cabinet - as opposed to the rear/top/bottom. This means that when the speaker is closer to a wall the air can freely exit the cabinet.

As for the amount of space anything more than a foot all round should be a good starting point.

oh. that might be a bit challenging on a 2.1m wall. with 1ft all round, that means the DC6T speakers will be about 4.5ft from each other (with possibly no space for a future 50" tv...) would that be too close?
