Hi all,

I think this is a underrated "product" in this Forum, I came to this conclusion just now in another thread to help another forum member.

Please join in by talking about your experience with Synology NAS and about using their DS Audio app as a streamer if thats the case.

I've got my NAS since 2013 and my main use of it in the first place was to store my music for the Squeezebox Touch.

But one day I connected the NAS strait to Rega DAC and NEVER went back, the interface is simpler to use and the most important for me is the Sound quality achieved this way.

The interface upgrades provided from synology are constant and this is a ongoing product (DS Audio App) for them as well, I don't know if they were expecting to sell the number of NAS they do for audiophiles, and other curiouse users, not PC geeks, that get them to their domestic interface.

I've used this app for about 2 years and as you say, it is very underrated. The Synology NAS software constantly improves and the NAS->DAC combo is an excellent one.

Thanks His Dudeness for your feed back!

I would like if you could go a little deeper in your findings for the new comers have some feedback from different users.

For exemple can you say what you had before having a NAS, and how was the switching process?

Thanks again for your contribution!

Then a window will appear for you to put the user name and password, as you can see you can select the "remember me" option and you'll not have to do this step each time you start up the app, it will skip this step.

This is how the app looks, as you can see there are several options in the main menu, and one of them is "downloaded songs", that right you can download albums, songs or your play list and you can have all the songs that you want and dont need itunes to do so, as this is a synology app with storage abilities, all synology app have this possibility. This for me is very useful as i've never got along to well with itunes, and now i dont need itunes to have music, movies or other file in my ipad, even PDF, i can download them from the NAS into the app, but for PDF i've to use "DS File"

I've got ALL my music stored in the NAS and i've individual forders, first the by Type, "Blues" "Classic" "Jazz" "Meninos is kids in Portuguese" my sons music, "Christmas is Natal" and "Tudo is Everithing else", you can add the pictures that you want and organize the way that you want in the NAS.

You just tap on top of what you want to go forward, or slide with your finger to go backword.

If your library is just to big like mine, you can use the alfabet on the right side to go strait to the artist that you want, or slide up and down. This is done very quickly, there are no freezes, or wait periud, the app just go along with your touches.

I've got own oranization method, a folder with the artist name and picture, inside i've got a folder with each album, sorted by year, like in this case. I've got some good working hours in my music library.

I'm going to try to explain how the DS Audio app in ithings, in this case in iPad that is what i've got to control the DS Audio in the NAS. Will post some pictures, to help visualising the layout of the app. Please bear with me, has i'm not filiated with synology, i'm just a plain user of the system.I've got a folder with all the synology apps in my ipad.

Just tap in the app and she will start to run. It will search in your wi-fi for your NAS, this is done automatically.
