Bum, let's try and ask the question again shall we?

Presently have a 5.1 surround setup using more modern KEFs at the front (IQ5SEs and IQ60c), but older rear ones (KEF Coda 9 I think) and a small old Eltax Impact Sub.

Opportunity to build a 7.1 system looming (she gets a kitchen out of it!!), but I'm keen to find the best matching rears, surrounds and SW to match what I already have. Would prefer smaller rather than bigger options due to space constraints, but main concern is to build a matched system.

Only chance the missus will give me, so need to make the most of it.

Would appreciate models as well as brands. Lots of praise for BK subs - but which one - not too big, not too small in the rest of the system.

Running through a Denon 1910 from a Pioneer BDP320, watching on a Pioneer PDP5090LX.

cheers

How about KEF 'eggs'then? They have uni Q don't they? Though they are small (suites the wife), are they man enough for digital soundtracks .

Would they match my front setup ok?

Ideas?

Have you looked at the flat panel T series, thinking the T101s for your set up, surrounds and rears?? With the added advantage that they are very wife friendly (certainly so in the house anyway)

I have the T301s as surrounds, see sig, and they are so good, impressing me more than the Q2DSs they replaced

Also the BK 200 sub might be a good place to start!!

Velodyne Microvee subwoofer or if your budget won't stretch an Impact Mini. As for rears the Kef's are fine but it depends on how and where you need to mount them and what colour they need to be.

Hmmm - these flat speakers are looking very tempting, and as you say, very wife friendly. Only downer is the cost of them, especially as I'm considering 4 of them. May have to consider second hand eggs from fleabay. Thanks for the info. I'll also look into the BK sub. cheers
