I have setup my HT SS 1300 sony surround system with my PS3 but i noticed that the voice level coming from the centre speakers was quite low i changed the speaker setting and it seemed ok, i have my centre speaker on +5 and everything else +2. What is the normal set up ie do you have the centre speaker generally louder, what about the Subwoofer and the rears how are they normally set up compared to the others.

It is best to set all speakers at 00, without sound enforcement. Have you checked +/- connection? I'm afraid that there must be something else to be set in your HT setup

Just checked and the speaker cables are wired correctly, i assumed it was ok to change the speaker volume settings as they go from -10 to +10, there are so many settings will just need to play with it, just wondered if there were general differences in the volume set up of the speakers but you say they should all be at 0, then why have the provision to change?

In my experience, i found that 0 is the default volume set by manufacturer so that every channel should produce the same loudness. These volume however are useful to balance all speakers only when they are positioned at different distances. Test tone might be helpful, but, I wonder why does your centre channel need additional number to balance with others.

I would try to connect that centre to L/R, just to check whether the speaker is really quiet. Otherwise, i think your setup is right

It obviously depends on where your speakers are situated. My receiver allows each speaker to be set from -20 to +20. Mine are all different (my rear speakers are smaller than the rest and are -5 and the front left and rights are -8 with the centre at -3. The sub is -15. When I ran the auto calibrator, it set the sub at -20 and the others all around -10. It's up to the listener though to set it how they want. I would advise however, not having them in the plusses and just turn your main volume up more.

I now totally agree with you, i have reduced the settings down and increased the volume, the rear speakers are more i tune with the rest of the system now
