the_lhc:Any particular reason why? Given they're arguably the biggest name in the sector you'd expect them to have something going for them. I notice they don't appear to supply units for review to WHF either, which is a pain.
I used to like REL in the early 90's - loved the original Strata, and the Studio was awesome, even if it was the size of a small car. Since then they've started making subs smaller, which is probably what people want, but once you start doing that they'll be compromised. With a sub, there is no substitute for cabinet volume and driver size. A sub has to shift air to do it's job properly, and although I used to like the little REL Quake, it's not really going to be used in a serious AV system.
Hmmm, if their room at the Bristol Show was anything to go by they still make massive ones, I was in there for a good 5 minutes before I realised that the coffee table in the middle of the room was actually a sub.
There's no way I could justify something like that in my living room though, so it's the smaller ones I'm interested in, with a full understanding of the compromises.
I don't really see why that should be an issue levelled solely at REL though, from what I can see everyone makes at least one small sub, it's common sense if that's what the market wants.
