SUBWOOFER CONNECTION ????

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any views on the best way to connect a subwoofer using the speaker level inputs. Is there a difference between running the cables from the amp to the sub compared with running them from the speakers terminals to the sub ( it was suggested to me that this way may be better due to issues of electrical resistance !! ) ???
