Speakers set to small (regardless of their size), amp crossover set to 80Hz and sub crossover set to max.

Hi, regarding the above settings, it says set the sub crossover to max and I
on my sub I have it up 150db which is turned clockwise to the max, is this right i'm just thinking maybe it's not and should anticlock to 40db, many thanks in advance.

150db seems to me this is ghe volume (gain), xover is the htz knob! Gain approx at 12oclock frequency(htz) turned fully clockwise and if you have phase 0-180 try either!

if your speakers are large standmounts, and you centre speaker is a large speaker to, i would set your speakers to large,if you don'nt the speakers bass will be took away some what and your speakers will be left sounding empty, and it will send it to the sub - the problem with that is your be distracted by the bass from the sub quite often - your speakers and overall sound will not sound full bodied, set amp crossover to 80hz like you have, set your sub crossover half way 12'0 clock or just under, another way of setting the correct crossover is play some bassy music and bring the sub crossover up until it intergrates into your main speakers bass frequency,of course your need to have your main speakers set o large

when you say amp crossover, if you mean speaker crossover i'd say 40hz or 60hz- not 80hz, again your striping the life out of your speakers,80hz will take the low frequency away from them. as for the subwoofer settings on the amp 80hz is correct, don'nt put it higher you don'nt need it to be.

What make and model is the sub?
Apoligies in delay in responding as web was down.

Its a M&K K-9

Regarding comments on letting bass to the main speakers which are B&W DM603S2 floorstanders, I was under the inpression to set all speakers to small regardless of size and then allow the sub to handle all bass duties and this in turn would allow other speakers to exhibit a more cleaner sound, I have tried setting my speakers to large, fronts only and I must say the sound appeared to by muffled and less cleaner, but again this is only my personal opinion.
