su vx800 amp problems.

Hi,having problems with the amp.Only one of the speaker terminals seems to be working.Ive tried different cables,different speakers and can still only get sound from the left speaker on the A and nothing at all on the B Channel.Any Ideas?

I have just sold my technics su vx800 intergrated amp to someone and having just taken delivery of it they have the above problem. Does anybody have any idea's before i take it back, cheers dave.

If the amp has recently been transported by courier or post, there's every chance that it has a dry joint (a bad solder joint that has loosened) - this is quite possible based on some Technics amps I have worked on. It could even be something as simple as one of the speaker binding posts has come loose from the board.

I've sent the amp off to a repair shop, the technician agrees with you that it possible has been bumped about abit in transit and has a crack in the circuit board or dry joint.Thanks for your response, dave.

I'm looking for a SU-VX800. Can't find it. On the web here in Switzerland I found the: Technics SU-V550, Class AA VC, VC-4 Amplifier System.

Is this older than the VX800?

What would a reasonable price be?

I once had a Technics SU-V4X amp, was Class A and superior to the AA ones, the sound was breathtaking, utterly beguiling.
