Hi Gel, thanks for asking.

The last I heard, the engineer was sending more photographs off to Panasonic.

That was a fortnight ago and I haven't had time to chase things up. I should call John Lewis for an update. I might squeeze a call in tomorrow evening before they close.

I'm still debating alternatives. A VT65 with uniformity problems that only show up with certain content might still be the best option. Sad but true...

Yep, I still love my VT65. I quite like the Sony 4K TV at £2500 at present and there are more coming out. I am not sure what I would do either to be honest.

Fingers crossed you get a good outcome. Keep us updated.

I think Gel is speaking hypothetically and isn't sure what he would do in my circumstances. As far as I know, he's entirely happy with his VT65.

Will do, though I think I'm out of fight now. Even geeks like me give up eventually.

If I thought swapping TVs would guarantee success I'd do it, but I have no confidence in this as a solution whatsoever.

Don't give up, it's a TV worth fighting for, just hang in there. I would swap.

But he is Gel. Anything is possible with him. ;)

 Have to admit it does seem like that, and probably is! :)

I am scared now that calibration would show up some potential faults. I don't mind the crushed blacks, I think it still looks great. I am now as happy as I have been with a TV ever though!

I was getting a bit of faint vertical grey bars on the pure white backgounds on the freestyle snow boarding where the Brit won the Bronze.

Once you know its there you do see it on occaision, but its purely dependent on whats being displayed. I am yet to see it on a blu ray source or upscaled DVD for that matter so it could be the a result of the interlaced feed from Virgin etc.

Its not ideal - but the set is not perfect (no set is perfect) - its not pro grade only consumer grade, I can live with it as the rest isso special - only after the calibration though.

I thought the Kuro was perfect but it wasnt - high amounts of dither used in that design.
