At the moment I have a 5.1 AV setup which is completely separate to my stereo arrangement. However, after upgrading to the Monitor Audio RS6 AV package, I would like to use the floor standers with my CD player and amp, How do I switch speakers between amps? or is it possible to connect my stereo amp to the AV receiver with a "straight pass through" arrangement to two of the speakers?

(ONKYO 605 receiver and a Cambridge Audio 540 Stereo amp)

Thanks - I'd appreciate any help or advice.

Thanks Matt - appreciate your help, although it looks like I can't do want to do with my setup.

I was reading the review on the Onkyo 606 and its said " like the TX-SR605, the new model can also be switched, when in a 5.1-channel system, to biamp suitable speakers on the front left and right channels; this is done by reassigning the rear surround channel amps." -I haven't a clue what this means but it seems to imply that I can do something to use my stereo amp - or am I completey missing the point ?

Thanks

Biamping your speakers means each drive unit of a speaker is driven by a separate amp channel. So in the case of the Onkyo 606, instead of driving the front left/right speakers with just one amp each, you can connect the front speaker channel amps to drive, say, the treble and use the rear speaker amps to drive the bass of the same speakers.
