Stereo Amp & Speakers for TV & Mac

I am after a stereo amp and speakers so that I can run my TV and my iMac through.

I have considered both 5.1 and 2.1 systems but I don't really like the idea of having a sub as I live in an apartment with neighbours.

My thinking is that I can improve the sound output of my TV (Panasonic 37PX70) and I can also pump my iMac music through the set up when I want something a bit better than my Audioengine A2's.

My budget is small at less than £400 as I maybe watch 2 films a month and listen to music only casually so I don't really want to spend loads.

Does anyone have suggestions on an AMP & Speakers I can use for this purpose?

Thanks for the suggestion, hadn't really thought about active speakers but they would cut out the need for an amp.

AVI ADM 9.1's would be nice but 3 times my budget...
