Dear All
I am new to this forum and home entertainment in general and I'm after some advice if possible. I currently have a Philips 42PF5521D and nothing else. I am looking for a home cinema setup but don't know where to start. I have a budget of about £1000 and would like to get a PS3 as a start. I have been toying with the idea of getting the Sony DAV-IS10 as the speakers are a nice size (the girlfriend doesn’t wants big speakers and cables all over the front room) but do I need the DVD player that comes with the DAV-IS10 as the PS3 includes one? Or shall I get separates and if so what is recommended? The TV is also wall mounted so any advice on a decent stand to sit the PS3 and other bits on would also be appreciated (need to have minimum mess) Like I have said I have never had a home cinema setup before and I'm very new to all this so thanks for your patience
Kind Regards

It seems I made a mistake by putting "startup advice needed" looking at previous posts it seems all new user questions are ignored. Im guessing there has been 100's of posts regarding this and I appologise for mine but I can't seem to find any answers. Can someone point me in the direction of a new user guide if such a things exists, sorry but I really am new and want to learn

Hey, we're very newbie-friendly here...

Yes, the DAV-IS10 is an all-in-one system with the DVD player integrated into the main corntrol/processor unit.

I'd go for the PS3, the Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver (to make the most of the PS3's HDMI audio ability), and some compact speakers such as the KEF KHT1005 package. That should do you very nicely with the addition of a simple stand to hold the PS3 and receiver. Something like one of these might be just the thing, but it's really down to your decor and tastes.

Hi Andrew

Thanks for the advice, I wasn't saying you wasn't newbie friendly but when I was going through old posts it seemed that most startup questions seemed to be unanswered, but thank you for replying to my post I appreciate it
