Hi.

I am needing a bit of help in getting myself a standalone music player.

A little bit about me first:

Due to diabetes I am gradually going blind and from what the doctors are saying at

the most I will have 5% vision in my right eye and none in my left within the next

year.

Now to the important bit, I am needing a stand-alone music player that isn't reliant on a

computer to use.

The best option i have found is:

http://andreweverard.com/2014/05/09/review-cocktail-audio-x30/

while not perfect ( doesn't have bluetooth or dab+) it fits must of my needs

especially as I will be able to connect it to my 46" wall mounted tv via hdmi

so i can use the menus etc.

Does anyone have any experience of this or can they recommend a better fit?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave, I am very sorry that this is happening to you. But I think you are facing it the right way by getting ready about it and focusing on one of the lots of good things you will still be able to do.

Have you thought about using an iPad? It can serve both as player and as remote, and it has a number of features aimed at people with disabilities. There is of course zooming on content, but also dictation, and reading of screen content. If you have a large TV, you can also use it to reproduce the screen of the iPad by using an Apple TV.

Hi,

Thanks for reply.

I have thought about the Ipad but had to reject it along with other

comps, nas and tablets etc because of ease of use and storage capacity.

What I need is a very simple to use option lf that make sense?

I have a very large collection of music and audioboooks that will

be growing in the next few months, about 1tb when ripped, and once it

is on the hard disk there won't be much if any change.
